Goldey-Beacom College’s women’s tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team.

This honor comes after six of the squad’s student-athletes were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Academic Honor Roll. Seniors Alma Garcia Valle, of Valladolid, Spain; and Anna Hortelano Pey, of Castelldefels, Spain, each made the list a third time. Senior Silvia Hortelano Pey, also of Castelldefels, earned her second honor. Sophomore Maria Bruno, of Maracay, Venezuela; junior Ksenija Markovic, of Belgrade, Serbia; and sophomore Kristin Radeke, of Bremen, Germany, each made their initial appearances.

The Lightning played in the CACC final for the third time in four seasons, closed fifth in the East Region according to the ITA, ended nine matches above .500 (11-2) for the fourth straight year and recorded at least seven league wins for the fourth consecutive season.

Sophomore Imane Van Veen, of Paris, finished the year ranked 11th in the region and with an 11-match winning streak in singles. Freshman Sara Edebo, of Gothenburg, Sweden, ended 13th in the region and posted a combined 23-4 record.

Both were picked first team All-CACC and to the league's all-tournament team.

The team continued to flourish under head coach Kristin Lake, who notched 11 victories to become the winningest first-year coach in program history.
