Goldey-Beacom ends award year with 3 CACC weekly awards

The final week of awards from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference saw three from Goldey-Beacom College honored.

Sophomore Mason Maxwell, of Newfield, New Jersey, was picked baseball’s Player of the Week; senior Jake Kinsell, of Carmichaels, Pennsylvania, was named to baseball’s Weekly Honor Roll; and freshman Nicole Makin, of Edgewater Park, New Jersey, was picked to softball’s Weekly Honor Roll.

Maxwell batted .667 with two doubles, a home run and two RBI in two games March 11 against Le Moyne. Maxwell in game two launched a solo home run and also rapped an RBI double in Goldey-Beacom’s 6-0 victory. He also went 2-for-3 in the opener with a double. Maxwell ends the year tied for first on the squad with 14 hits, tied for first with four doubles, tied for first with two home runs and third with a .269 batting average.

Kinsell got the victory March 11, tossing three scoreless innings with four strikeouts and allowing just two hits with two walks. He amassed 12 strikeouts on the season to close fifth on the squad and was tied for first with five appearances.

Makin batted .600 over two games March 9 at perennial-power West Chester. She went 3-for-3 in game one. Makin was one of four for the Lightning to start all eight contests, ending second with seven hits and third with a .333 batting average
