Local author and entrepreneur Fred Dawson released on Oct. 1 the third installment in the “Pearls: Women Who Radiate Success” series, which details the grit and determination of 14 women who conquered adversity, gender discrimination and personal hardships to achieve success.

One-hundred percent of sales will benefit the Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation, which helps fund deserving women who desire to transform their lives through higher education. All three volumes of “Pearls” can be purchased at freddawson.com.

Dawson said he draws inspiration from his mother, Marguerite June Dawson.

“She was the most influential person in my life,” he said. “For 25 years, she worked tirelessly on an automobile assembly line by day and cared for her family by night. Her extraordinary work ethic and courage rubbed off on my two brothers and me. Fiercely determined, she succeeded on her terms, a choice so inspirational that I made it my mission to help the world see women as they deserved to be seen — validation my mother never had.”

Among the women highlighted are Delaware Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, trailblazers Tina Betz and Jennifer Cohen and Delaware Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long.
