Delaware's 911 emergency system now working after statewide outage Monday night
Delaware's 911 emergency service was restored Monday night following a 45-minute outage.
Delaware State Police announced around 7:30 p.m. that callers to 911 statewide received a busy signal, whether they used a landline or cellphone.
By 8:20 p.m., it was announced that service was restored.
A Delaware State Police spokesperson did not immediately have any information about a cause.
During the outage, residents were encouraged to text 911 and enter the type of emergency in the message field.
Newark police put out their own statement encouraging residents to call (302) 366-7111 for emergencies in that city before the service came back online.
