Whale of a Sale — “Delaware’s largest garage sale” and a time-honored fundraiser for the Junior League of Wilmington since 1980 — will return from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 9 at Second Chances Farm, 3030 Bowers St., Wilmington.

The 2019 Whale of a Sale will feature an expanded boutique area, with high-quality and designer items including new clothing, accessories, formalwear and bridal gowns contributed by local businesses. The furniture section will include gently used pieces as well as items that have been rehabbed. Other finds include holiday items, children’s clothing, equipment and sporting goods, housewares, books and art.

Proceeds benefit the JLW’s mission of developing the leadership potential of its members and the league’s community programming. In addition to its annual Women’s Leadership Summit and Young Women’s Leadership Summit, the league’s current community impact campaign is Stand Up. Period. This initiative focuses on menstrual equity in Delaware and aims to ensure affordable access to period supplies.

The Sale will be held at Second Chances Farm, which nurtures plants and people, and the planet, by providing returning citizens with mentorship programs and green collar jobs at hydroponic, indoor, vertical farms. Attendees may park in the lot at East Side Charter School. There is on-street parking nearby and accessible parking adjacent to the site. The site is easily accessible from downtown and Interstate 495.

The JLW will accept community donations for the sale and drop-off dates will be advertised on Facebook — facebook.com/whaleofasalejlw— as they are scheduled. Sponsorship opportunities are available; email angelasalvucci@hotmail.com or stephaniejlw@gmail.com. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the sale.
