The Delaware Department of Transportation announced that its contractor, Pennoni, will inspect several bridges in New Castle County during the weeks of April 22-29.
For the bridges over the city of Wilmington on I-95, lane closures are set for 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the following nights:
— April 24: Left lane closed on Interstate 95 northbound between Frawley Stadium and Exit 7/Delaware Avenue. All ramps onto and off of I-95 will remain open at all times.
— April 25: Left lane closed on I-95 southbound between Exit 6/Martin Luther King Boulevard/Fourth Street and Frawley Stadium. All ramps onto and off of I-95 will remain open at all times.
For the bridge over Christina River on South Market Street, lane closures are set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the following days:
— April 30 and May 1: Alternating right and left lane closures on South Market Street between Rosa Parks Drive and “A” Street.
— May 2: Multiple intermittent bridge openings throughout the day to complete inspections in areas only accessible while the bridge is open. Motorists and pedestrians should expect delays when traveling in this area. South Market Street will remain open with no restrictions between the bridge openings.
Vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be allowed to clear prior to beginning a new bridge opening.
Motorists should be aware that bridge personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to the travel lanes and anticipate lane shifts.
