The Delaware Symphony Orchestra announced that Gallo Gives Foundation, the charitable arm of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty, of Lewes, provided a $5,000 gift to support the Orchestra’s two Classics Series concerts during the upcoming 2018-19 season.

“We are extremely grateful to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty and its family of agents who support their foundation,” said Alan Jordan. “So many people who attended our first concert in recent times in Lewes last September commented that the area is eager for more cultural opportunities. We realize that there are a number of other presenters in the area, but the DSO hopes to fill a void for classical large ensemble offerings, and to become a regular presence in Sussex County.”

The Gallo Gives Foundation support will satisfy one quarter of a challenge grant previously awarded the DSO by the Jessie Ball duPont Fund to help the orchestra launch multiple annual presentations in Sussex County. An additional $15,000 must be raised from local sources to fully meet the challenge. When the challenge is met, the Delaware Symphony Orchestra will receive an additional $20,000 from the Fund.

The symphony is seeking additional support from other businesses, individuals and foundations in the area so that annual performances can be scheduled in a financially sustainable way.
