Comcast NBCUniversal recently announced that it has awarded about $12,000 in scholarships for the 2018-19 school year to 12 Delaware students as part of its annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program.

The program, funded by the Comcast Foundation, is a one-time, $1,000 scholarship awarded to high school seniors for their community service, academic performance and leadership skills.

Comcast recognized the students at a luncheon held at Frazier’s Restaurant in Dover on June 19. After lunch, the students and their families traveled to the Delaware General Assembly where a resolution honoring the 2018 Leaders and Achievers was passed in the House of Representatives.

Kent County recipients are Shaina Eggleston, of Calvary Christian Academy in Dover; and Eryne Jenkins, of Caesar Rodney High School in Camden-Wyoming.

New Castle County recipients are Bria Dickerson, of Red Lion Christian Academy in Bear; Ethan Fruchtman, of Wilmington Friends Upper in Wilmington; Alphina Kamara, of Mt. Pleasant High School in Wilmington; Nadine Mong’are, of Tatnall School in Wilmington; and Jordan Robinson, of William Penn High School in New Castle.

Sussex County recipients are Joud Dabaj, of Indian River High School in Dagsboro; Nyra Giles, of Laurel Senior High School; Adriana Lopez, of Sussex County High School in Georgetown; Yasmine Signey, of Woodbridge High School in Greenwood; and Olivia Tancredi, of Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes.
