University of Delaware Professor Alan Fox will present “Understanding Islam,” an introduction to the Islamic tradition, its theology, history and scriptural links with Judaism and Christianity, at 7:30 p.m. March 15 at Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church, 101 Old Kennett Road, Wilmington.
The program is presented as part of the church’s Vision 2020 series. As professor of Asian and Comparative Philosophy and Religion at the University of Delaware, Fox provides a compelling and objective program, respectful of a religion practiced by nearly a billion people worldwide.
There was a time when one could make a broad distinction between Eastern and Western cultures, because these separate geographical entities rarely met. But today the world is much smaller and, without common understanding, these different cultures often collide.
For all those concerned with human welfare, dignity, peace and fulfillment, “Understanding Islam” will provide a stronger foundation for cooperative, constructive and positive interaction.
The event is free and open to the public. To RSVP for planning purposes, visit tinyurl.com/lbpc-tix-01.
