Five regular-season tournaments against challenging competition grace the slate as Goldey-Beacom’s golf team announces its 2018 spring schedule.

Goldey-Beacom opens things March 16-17 at the Brown Golf Intercollegiate in Jackson Spring, North Carolina, before heading to Goldsboro, North Carolina, for The Trojan from April 2-3.

The Lightning again head south April 7-8 for the Towson Invitational in Grasonville, Maryland, before going north for the Mike Bello Invitational from April 12-13 in Syracuse, New York.

Its last regular-season tournament should provide for plenty of local flavor April 17, when it partakes in the Jefferson Rams Classic at the prestigious Ace Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.

GBC then hopes it will play at the NCAA East/Atlantic Regional, which takes place May 7-9 in Daniels, West Virginia. The Lightning have played at the Glade Springs Resort each of the past three years entering this season.

Ryan Quigg, of Sykesville, Maryland, is coming off a solid start to his junior campaign, averaging 80.10 over five tournament that includes ending tied for eighth at the Eagles Invitational with 150. He had six sub-80 rounds, including three rounds of 75.

Sophomore Shea Murphy, of Wilmington and Wilmington Charter, averaged 81.25 over four tournament, ending tied for 23rd at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship. In addition to three sub-80 rounds, Murphy won the league’s Top XVI Award for having the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the CACC championships.

Senior Andre Primeau, of Pontypool, Ontario, Canada, posted an 81.8 average over five rounds, including three sub-80 rounds. Among that included ending tied for 29th at the CACC Championship and tied for 38th at the Charger Challenge.
