First State events for July's first weekend.

1. Late-night TV host and stand-up comedian Jay Leno will bring his gift of laughter to lower Delaware.

Leno has performed in settings from nightclubs, theaters and stadiums to his long run as host of the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

A comedian, best-selling children’s book author, corporate speaker, lovable TV and movie voice actor, car builder and mechanic, and philanthropist - it’s no wonder Leno is widely characterized as “the hardest working man in show business.”

Special guest Gimme Four, a barbershop quartet based in New Jersey, will open Leno’s show.

Leno will headline at the Freeman Stage at Bayside,
31750 Lake View Drive, Selbyville at 7 p.m., Friday. COST $55 to $100. INFO or 436-3015.

2. Kids get a taste of Throwback Thursday this Saturday, playing 19th-century games at Hagley.

The old-school summer games will take place at 200 Hagley Creek Road, Wilmington from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday. COST $14 adults; $10 students and seniors; $5 children ages 6 to 14; free for members. INFO or 658-2400.

3. Pop-rock band Timeless will take you on a sweet ride down memory lane to play your favorite tunes from the 1960s, including the ones you’ve forgotten about.

At the same time, the band will sprinkle in some current jams, making the night more interesting.
