Too many geese: Fish & Wildlife conservation order aimed at reducing the snow goose population Feb. 1-5 and from Feb. 8 to April 9.
The Delaware Division of Fish & Wildlife will implement a snow goose conservation order Feb. 1-5 and from Feb. 8 to April 9.
The conservation order began occurring annually in 2009 as part of an effort across the Atlantic Flyway to reduce the population of greater snow geese.
The snow goose population has become so large that the birds are causing extensive damage to their breeding grounds in the Canadian Arctic and negatively impacting the wetlands and agricultural areas where the birds overwinter in the mid-Atlantic, including Delaware.
