Video & Story: The Everett Theatre in Middletown will host the Manhattan Short Film Festival Sept. 28 and 29 featuring nine finalists from around the world, with audiences voting on a winner.

The Everett Theatre, 47 W. Main St., Middletown, will offer audiences two chances to see nine of the year's best short films from around the world at the Manhattan Short Film Festival Friday, Sept. 28 and Saturday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Audiences will get to choose their favorite film, with voting occurring at other locations across the United States and around the world.

The nine finalists hail from eight countries: Austria, Canada, Germany, Hungary, Kosovo, New Zealand, the United States and two from the United Kingdom.

The finalists were selected from 1,565 submissions from 73 countries received by the film festival for 2018.

The final nine represent a range of film genres that include intimate dramas, fast-paced animation, spine-tingling tales, a World War II epic, a comedy and a film shot entirely underwater.
