Dinner idea: Simply Italian Tomato Sauce

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, chopped

1 teaspoon dried basil or marjoram

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Salt and pepper to taste

Heat oil and saute onions for three minutes. Puree tomatoes in a food processor, and pour sauce over onions. Add garlic, herb and pepper flakes. Simmer for 20 minutes. Serves 4. Note: Stir in a half cup of pasta water to “loosen” the sauce.
