New Castle County is currently experiencing a decrease in all crimes including crimes of theft, thefts from vehicles and burglaries. The decrease can be contributed to the Property Crime Initiative implemented by Colonel Setting in 2014, following the success of the Targeted Analytical Policing System (T.A.P.S.). Despite these great results, warmer weather can attract burglars and thieves.
