Goldey-Beacom College will open its doors from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 15 to present the inaugural, sold-out TEDxGoldeyBeacomCollege in the Rollins Atrium in the Joseph West Jones Center.

“TEDx has become a perfect synergy between academia and pop culture,” said GBC’s Doctor of Business Administration program director Daniel Young. “When TEDx comes, it is a signal that the campus is embracing technology, creativity and vision. We are excited to bring together an institution that is known for academic excellence with a brand that is known for innovation.”

TEDx will present 10 speakers who will discuss topics ranging from anxiety to blockchain technology to directing movies. Traveling from as far away as Germany, this individual, self-organized TEDx, is a live event that will spark deep discussion and connection throughout the greater College community. The event is principally sponsored by Iconiq Lab and the GBC Doctor of Business Administration program.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that brings people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection.

TED — “where Technology, Entertainment and Design converge” — is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas on almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world. This independent TEDx event is operated under a license from TED.
