Candidates for State Rep. District 22 scheduled to appear

The Greater Hockessin Area Development Association is hosting a candidate’s debate for the 22nd State Representative race in November on Monday, July16th at 6:30 PM to take place at the Hockessin Memorial Fire Hall from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

With the announcement that Joseph Miro was retiring after serving for 20 years as the State Representative for the 22nd District, there are now four candidates vying to serve the district.

There are currently two Republicans and two Democrats that have filed and are running for the office.

Kathy Beard, (R) Mike Smith, (R) Renee Taschner, (D) Guillermina Gonzalez, (D)

The winner of each Primary election on September 9th will face off for the General Election on November.

Organizers have prepared questions available for the candidates, and will be taking questions submitted in writing, from the floor, time permitting. Questions may also be emailed to markwblake@aol.com for consideration and use at the Forum.

The debate will be moderated by the Hockessin Community Newspaper and the basic format will be as follows:

Opening Comments/Statement - 3 minutes each Question & Answer Session - 90 minutes Candidate's Closing Statement - 3 minutes each

There will be strict adherence to time limits so as to keep things moving along smoothly and to afford all candidates equal time to speak and address questions.
