Goldey-Beacom College announced that W. Daniel Young was appointed as director of the newly created Doctor of Business Administration program.
Young will create doctoral courses, recruit faculty and students, manage the curriculum, comprehensive exam and the dissertation processes as well as linking the program to the state and regional communities. The college’s new program will be unique in the field of doctoral studies, including partnerships with several corporations and governmental agencies to solve business problems through student coursework. This stands in stark contrast to other DBA programs, which may simply use textbooks and past case studies to achieve learning goals and objectives.
Young has knowledge in creating the programming and operational structure of a DBA program as well as hiring professors and recruiting students. He brings academic experience to this new post, most recently as an assistant professor who was responsible for developing Wilmington University’s first online Doctor of Business Administration course.
In addition, Young has taught classes in marketing and entrepreneurship at the University of Delaware, Temple University, Goldey-Beacom College and West Chester University. He brings experience in organizing TEDx and will be bringing the first TEDxGoldeyBeacomCollege in fall 2018.
As a former financial adviser, Young served a base of more than 200 clients representing
more than $20 million in assets. He also founded Young Consulting Group, a boutique marketing company tailored to deploying strategies to attract millennials and Generation Z to participate in nonprofit donating and board service.
Young holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing from the University of Delaware; a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing and finance, also from the University of Delaware; and a Doctor of Philosophy in social behavior and marketing from Temple University. Young is a 2011 graduate of Leadership Delaware.
