20 year-old Elijah Gordy-Stith deceased after homeowner fired shots on intruder

New Castle County Police have identified 20 year-old Elijah Gordy-Stith as the suspect who was fatally shot while unlawfully entering a home on Flint Hill Road earlier this week.

Police said that on Monday, June 11, around 11:30 p.m., New Castle County Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Flint Hill Road in Pike Creek for the report of a burglary in progress.

Police said that a 20 year-old male suspect had unlawfully entered the residence on Flint Hill Road while a family was inside.

The homeowner located the suspect in a room of the residence at which time a gun shot was fired striking him in the torso, police said. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and later pronounced deceased.

This is still an open and ongoing investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
