The Delaware Department of Transportation’s announced that their contractors will be repairing bridges in New Castle County.

The work will include repairing spalls on the bridge deck, sealing of the bridge deck, reconstruction of headers and replacement of the joint seals.

In an effort to minimize the impact to the traveling public, the work will be accomplished during the weekends. Some of the maintenance repairs to the bridges will require weeknight work. Motorists should be aware that bridge personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to the travel lanes and anticipate lane shifts.

Roadways that will be impacted with lane closures and/or posted detours are state Route 141/Basin Road (bridge over Centerville Road) southwest of Elsmere.

— Phase I: From 7 p.m. Feb. 16 to 5 a.m. Feb. 19, northbound left lane and shoulder will be closed 24/7. Motorists will take the existing interchange collector road. From 7 p.m. until 5 p.m. Feb. 19 through Feb. 23, northbound left lane and shoulder will be closed at night. Motorists will take the existing interchange collector road.

— Phase II: From 7 p.m. Feb. 23 to 5 a.m. Feb. 26, right lane and shoulder will be closed with a detour of state Route 141 on/off ramps. Detour signage will be posted. The left lane will be shifted toward the should at the north abutment. From 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Feb. 26 through March 1, northbound two right lanes will be closed on state Route 141. Night work at the bridge over CSX railroad with extended drums.

— Phase III: 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. March 5 through March 8, northbound two right lanes closed with detour of state Route 141 on/off ramps. Detour signage will be posted. The left lane and shoulder closed.

— Phase IV: 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. March 11 through March 15, northbound left lane and shoulder weeknight closure with detour of state Route 141 on/off ramps. Detour signage will be posted for motorists.

Dates and times for work over the CSX Railroad on state Route 141 will be announced in March.
