Multiple winners in Region 8 competition

This past weekend, 23 members of Hockessin's Cornerstone Martial Arts traveled to the Poconos to compete in the World Tang Soo Do Association's Region 8 Championship.

Region 8 extends from New York State to Washington DC and the event drew over 750 competitors. Competition was held for Korean-style weapons, open-hand forms, sparring and demonstration teams.

Cornerstone students wound up bringing back over 40 medals, including 15 gold.

Lorenzo Viterbo won the Grand Champion for Youth Color Belts and the Creativity (demonstration) Team took third place overall.

The team was coached by Peggy DelFabbro, a veteran competitor herself as well as CEO of M. Davis Inc, a fifth-generation construction firm headquartered in Delaware.

“She, along with a dedicated group of volunteers, donated their time to prepare these kids – and adults – to perform at their best under pressure,” said Cornerstone co-owner Rob Kloss.

Cornerstone is located in Lantana Square in Hockessin.
