Goldey-Beacom College’s soccer teams volunteered Oct. 15 at Tender Hearts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to medically-fragile children and their families.

The volunteer effort was part of Family Fitness Funday, organized by Tender Hearts. The student-athletes helped raise money to purchase custom-made bicycles for physically and developmentally impaired children.

The soccer teams also assisted with arts and crafts stations, touch football, soccer, fitness competitions, food trucks and other activities.

Goldey-Beacom has participated community service ranging from cleanup on the Christiana River, assisting kids at local elementary school, raising money for Delaware Firefighters and helping with collections both around Thanksgiving and the December holidays during the past few years.

The department was one of 25 finalists for the NCAA Division II Award of Excellence in January after its 2015 Halloween 5K Costume Run and Fun Walk raised money for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.
