Artesian Resources Corp., a provider of water and wastewater services, and related services, on the Delmarva Peninsula, recently celebrated its 15th consecutive year of participation in the Blood Bank of Delmarva’s Summer Blood Challenge.
The challenge is a competition among businesses and organizations to recruit the most blood donors and blood bank members. This year, Artesian was awarded first place for the high donor participation in the small employer category that recognizes companies with 101-299 employees. Artesian employees rallied for the second on-site blood drive Sept. 20 to round out the Summer Challenge that ran from May 18 to Sept. 23.
In addition to providing on-site donations, employees also actively recruited friends and family members to donate blood at Blood Bank of Delmarva locations throughout the Delmarva Peninsula. The Blood Bank of Delmarva provides blood and blood products to 16 hospitals on the Delmarva Peninsula, which benefit from the stable blood supply. The demand for local blood donations from nearby hospitals increased during the summer months and recently reached critical levels after Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
