Goldey-Beacom College saw five of its student-athletes named for Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference weekly awards.

Catarina Zheng, of Oporto, Portugal, was named Women’s Tennis Player and Rookie of the Week. Junior Suhail Bismilla, of Johannesburg, South Africa, was picked Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week. Freshman Nicholas Ladeira, of Johannesburg, South Africa, was tabbed to the weekly honor roll. Alanna Speaks, of Wilmington, was named Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week; and Breanne Haley, of Elkton, Maryland, was tabbed Volleyball Rookie of the Week.

Zheng went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles. She got a 6-3, 6-4 win over Laura Gil from Wilmington and a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Alleyn Llaban from Holy Family, both at second singles. She also teamed with Lotte Lesscher y Post for an 8-2 win over Wilmington and an 8-0 win over Holy Family, both at first doubles.

Bismilla went 2-0, making five saves over 181 minutes. He made two saves Sept. 26 at Saint Thomas Aquinas and three Sept. 30 against Post.

Ladeira scored 1 minute and 17 seconds into overtime to give Goldey-Beacom a 1-0 victory Sept. 30 over Post.

Speaks ended the week with three goals, two assists and eight points over two games. Her points came during the Sept. 27 9-1 victory over Lincoln, giving her a league-leading 10 goals and 22 points.

Haley closed the week with 31 kills, nine aces, 22 digs, five blocks and a .289 hitting percentage over two matches. She dominated in Goldey-Beacom’s 3-1 victory Sept. 27 at Wilmington, recording 22 kills, 16 digs, four blocks, two aces and a .281 percentage. Haley also had nine kills, six digs and a .308 percentage Sept. 30 against Dominican.
