Goldey-Beacom’s men’s basketball team announced the hiring of Avery Sherrod and Nate Brown as assistant coaches.

Sherrod arrived after serving as an assistant coach at Brandywine High School. He helped coordinate offseason workouts and mentored the student-athletes in the academic achievement.

Sherrod also was an assistant coach at Mount Pleasant High School from 2013-16, helping the squad to a 54-9 record, two appearances in the Delaware State semifinals and two Blue Hen Conference titles. Sherrod helped coordinate fundraising activities and oversaw student-athletes, recording a 100 percent graduation rate.

Sherrod earned his Bachelor of Science from Norfolk State University, his Master of Education at Wilmington University and his Doctor of Education from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Brown played for BG Illertal in Germany, averaging 21.5 points, 8.3 assists, 4 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game. He also closed sixth in his league in scoring.

Brown played two seasons for Delaware Valley University, averaging 4.8 points and 2.9 rebounds per contest. He helped the 2014-15 squad go 16-11 overall, 10-4 in the Freedom Conference and earn a berth in the conference final.
