Seven students in the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, including Conor McAvinue, of Wilmington, were selected to participate in this Summer’s National Youth Orchestra by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute.

McAvinue, a viola player, joined PYO students Joy Zhao, Fiyi Adebuken, Isabella Egawa, Allyson Cohen, Daniel Kim and Johnny May in the NYO program, which brought together 115 young musicians, 16-19 years of age, to form this summer’s orchestra. The program culminates in the orchestra’s tour of Latin America, with performances in Mexico, Ecuador and Colombia.
