ShopRite and Dove recognized four young women, including a teen from Newark, as Dove Right On Girls Scholarship winners during a ceremony June 6 at the ShopRite of Middletown, New Jersey.
Carole King, 17, of Newark, was recognized for giving her talent and time to her local community. King received a $4,000 scholarship for winning the contest, which is sponsored by Unilever in partnership with ShopRite, and grants college scholarships to young women.
King was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia and endured medical procedures and surgeries. Through her Girl Scouts membership, King started a nonprofit to help sick and underprivileged children.
