Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library and the University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation is stabilizing a collection of photographic album pages depicting Arctic expeditions from the 1860s to 1890s.

They were assembled by Albert Operti and are owned by the Explorers Club in New York City.

On Jan. 17-18, Debra Hess Norris will lead the first-year Winterthur/UD Program in Art Conservation photograph conservation block class project in stabilizing photographic album pages depicting historic Arctic expeditions of the 19th century. These albums date from the 1860s-1890s and were assembled by Albert Operti, who was known as the "Artist of the Arctic" for his precision, depth of knowledge, and portrayal of Arctic expeditions.
