  • A purse-snatcher who failed at stealing the bag of an elderly woman in the parking lot of a Middletown shopping center earlier this month may have struck again.
According to Middletown Police, a 25-year-old female had her purse stolen at the parking lot of the Walmart last Friday at approximately 6:15 p.m.
The victim told police that she was loading groceries into her car with her young child when she witnessed the suspect, Andrew Flach, 24, of Hockessin, remove her purse and flee to a moving 1998 Green Honda Civic with Maryland plates, 2BL3818. The victim said the driver of the Civic was a white female with pink hair.
Police said that the description of this latest purse snatching incident is similar to the one that occurred Aug. 13 in the parking lot of Dove Run Shopping Center. In that incident, a 71-year-old woman suffered minor scrapes after a man unsuccessfully tried to take her purse.  The man fled the scene into a car driven by a female matching a similar description to the incident on Aug. 22.
Anyone having any information about this investigation, the location of Andrew Flach or his accomplice is asked to contact Detective Ronald Davis at 376-9950, 573-2800 or 379-8196.
Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or via the internet at www.tipsubmit.com. You might be eligible for a reward.
