      DETAILS: Numerous area experts on aging, dementia and eldercare will be on-hand to give advice and answer questions. The event is free and open to the public.

  • On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Windsor Place Assisted Living in Hockesisn will host a panel of experts a variety of fields to guide families in making important life decisions.
    “They’re in the field of resources for someone who is starting to search for assisted living and have little knowledge of the industry or process,” said Windsor marketing manager Michelle Strum. 
    Below, find information on each panel member and their field of expertise.
    Carol E. Barnett, DE Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities
    • Over 16 years’ experience working with DSAAPD
    • Updates and assembles the state’s “Guide to Services for Older Delawareans and Persons with Disabilities”
    • Grant writer and researcher for the DSAAPD, and a personal caregiver to her brother, Steve, who has cerebral palsy
    Wade Scott, Eldercare attorney
    • Long term care practice with focus on helping families plan in advance for times of prolonged disability and to obtain enhanced asset protection. 
    • Degrees in both law and estate planning
    • Member of WealthCounsel, ElderCounsel, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the elder law section of the Delaware Bar Association.
    Michael Dallas, Hospice Care Consultant
    • Registered nurse and hospice care provider for Seasons Hospice
    • Helps provide quality care, resources and support to patients and families by building relationships with referral sources across the continuum, and by educating people on the benefit of hospice.
    • Worked in a variety of settings including, but not limited to, home, inpatient hospice and facility-based hospice
    Renee Goolday, Certified Senior Advisor
    • CSA and Community Liaison St. Francis at Home, with personal focus on service and individual care
    • Helps find the “right fit” for every resident and patient, no matter what company provides that service
    • Through St. Francis, work with Skilled Nursing, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Home Health Aide service providers
    • Background in working with patients of all faiths, and in working with homeless and less fortunate members
    Other panel members include Strum, certified advanced dementia practitioner Kelly Cirino, and Hockessin insurance agent John Koziol.
