The High School Football season is hours away. The fifth Annual Kickoff Classic will take place this Thursday!
The Delaware state high school football season is set to open with the 5th Annual DFRC Blue-Gold Kickoff Classic on Thursday, September 4. Sponsored by the Delaware Foundation Reaching Citizens with intellectual disABILITIES (DFRC) and the Delaware Interscholastic Football Coaches Association (DIFCA), the Caravel Buccaneers will host the Hodgson Eagles at Bob Peoples Stadium and the Delcastle Cougars will travel to face the Polytech Panthers in Jeff Adams Stadium. Both games are scheduled to kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
The contests will recognize past DFRC Blue-Gold participants from each school and representatives of DFRC’s Hand-in-Hand Program. Standard pricing is $5 for adults and each host school will honor their individual student pricing. Tickets will be available at the gate the day of the game. There will also be a limited amount of DFRC Blue-Gold merchandise on sale at both games.
The intention of this annual event is to increase awareness about DFRC’s mission to enrich the lives of Delawareans with intellectual disabilities. Since 1956, the DFRC Blue-Gold AlléStar Football Game has provided statewide competition at the University of Delaware Stadium to culminate a five-month program, offering high school seniors awareness, understanding, and an opportunity to be paired with a child or young adult who has an intellectual disability.
