Kennett Square-based healthcare provider now has nine locations throughout Delaware
On August 1, 2014, Genesis HealthCare expanded its presence in Delaware with the acquisition of the Saint Francis Healthcare Franciscan Care Center (now called Brackenville Center), a 104-bed skilled nursing facility located in Hockessin, Delaware. Saint Francis Healthcare owned and operated Franciscan Care Center for the past 21 years.
“Franciscan Care Center is the only CHE Trinity Healthy long-term care facility in Delaware. Given the significant pressures reshaping the face of healthcare in our nation, we concluded that our residents and patients would benefit if our center were part of an organization with a larger presence in the state. In speaking with potential acquirers, we were gratified to learn Genesis adheres to a set of values similar to our own, including compassion, respect and integrity, creating what we believe is a seamless transition for patients and families” states Brian E. Dietz, FACHE, president and CEO, Saint Francis Healthcare.
With the addition of Brackenville Center, Genesis HealthCare now operates nine facilities in Delaware, including Churchmans Village, Newark (Skilled Nursing & Independent Living); Heritage at Dover, Dover (Senior Living); Heritage at Milford, Milford (Senior Living); Hillside Center, Wilmington; Lofland Park Center, Seaford; Milford Center, Milford; Seaford Center, Seaford; and Silver Lake Center, Dover.
Genesis HealthCare is one the nation's largest skilled nursing providers operating over 400 skilled nursing centers and senior living residences in 28 states. Genesis also offers a wide range of services from short-term rehabilitation to other specialty services including ventilator, dialysis, and Alzheimer’s / dementia care. Within Delaware, Genesis offers specialties in Transitional Care, Cardiac Management, Homestead Alzheimer’s / Dementia Care, Senior Living and Independent Living.
In the coming months, Brackenville Center will begin a major transformation to align to Genesis standards. In addition to physical renovations, Brackenville Center will also welcome Genesis Physician Services to enhance overall clinical oversight of patients and residents, apply for the We Honor Veterans program to support local Veterans, and add managed care contracts for better patient coverage.
“As we strive to fulfill our mission, we are dedicated to meeting the needs of our community,” states Karen Painter, the new Administrator of Brackenville Center. “We are always available to answer your questions or to provide you and your family with a personal tour of our facility or explain the services we offer. Also, for your convenience, our Genesis CareLine, 1-866-745-CARE, can accept referrals and admissions 24 Hours/Day – 7 Days/Week. Ultimately, we are dedicated to providing individualized care in a welcoming and home-like environment.”
