The opening round of the Delaware American Legion Baseball State Tournament continued Sunday at Schutte Park in Dover, Del. 

In the opening contest the Post 10 Generals eliminated Durney Post 27 from the tournament after a 13-3 victory. 

Anthony Zicarelli led the way for Post 10 on the mound pitching four strong innings to earn the win.  Meanwhile, at the plate Post 10 collected 16 total hits on the day, 13 of which came against Durney Post 27 starter Tyler Lasako. Post 10 got to Lasako early knocking in 9 runs off 13 hits just 3.3 innings on Sunday. Post 10 had six players finishing with at least two hits apiece. Eric Rowe did the most damage at the plate Sunday, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI on the day, while C.J. Morton went 4-for-6 with an RBI and three runs scored.  

Post 10 fell to Fox Post 2 on Saturday, and will play Delvets Post 1 in the elimination round Monday night at 7:00 p.m.

In the second game of Sunday’s triple-header, Post 25 Middletown defeated Fox Post 2 11-4. With a two-run lead after seven and a third Sunday, Post 25 exploded for a five-run seventh inning to pull away.

Post 25’s Dominic DiSabatino pitched six innings on Sunday, giving up three runs off nine hits to earn the victory. At the plate, Chad Bell, Brock Long, and Matt Taylor all knocked in two runs apiece. Ryan Zwier went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored.

While Fox Post 2 starter Nick Spadafino had a rough day on the mound Sunday, he had a nice day at the plate doing his best to help his own cause. Spadafino went 4-for-5 on the day with two runs scored, while Lee Killen went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI to lead the Fox Post 2 offense.

Fox Post 2 will play an elimination game on Monday against R.C. duPont Post 18 at 3:00 p.m. Middletown Post 25 now moves on to face No. 1 seed Stahl Post 30 on Tuesday, first-pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Stahl Post 30 opened their title defense Sunday with a 12-0 win over Delvets Post 1. Post 30’s Tyler Newton pitched six innings giving up no earned runs and just two hits to earn the victory.

Stahl Post knocked in 11 runs in the first three innings off Delvets starter Sean Deely, scoring two runs in the first, four in the second, and five more in the third to run away with things early.  Seven Stahl Post players finished with at least two hits in the 12 run – 19 hit assault.

Lonnie Funderbuck, Brandon Walter, and John Joines had three hits apiece for Stahl Post on Sunday. Funderbuck finished the day 3-for-4 with a single, double, and a homerun knocking in six runs to lead the Stahl Post offense.  

Stahl Post will take on Post 25 Middletown on Tuesday starting at 7:00 p.m.  Delvets Post will play an elimination game on Monday, taking on Post 10 at 7:00 p.m.
