  • The Delaware 87ers today announced the team will celebrate the second annual 87ers Day on Thursday, August 7 (8/7) with a series of public events and promotions concentrated in the Wilmington and Newark, DE areas.

“August 7th marks the tip-off to the 87ers basketball season,” said Delaware 87ers President Aaron Moszer.  “Following the success of our inaugural season, we are looking forward to providing the best family entertainment in Delaware.  The 87ers Day events in Wilmington and Newark are examples of what fans can expect at an 87ers game—memorable and enjoyable experiences for the entire family.”

87ers Day will be highlighted in part by a Charity 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament.  The tournament begins at 12pm.  Games will be played on courts that will be set up on Academy Street.  All participants receive a parking pass, tournament t-shirt, and two tickets to a 2014-2015 Delaware 87ers regular season game.  The top four teams to advance in the tournament will get a meet and greet with Sevens players and on-court recognition at a Sevens home game.  The championship game begins at 7pm. The winning team will receive 87ers season tickets, a mascot appearance at their place of business and a team trophy.

Team registration is $100 with proceeds benefiting the Downtown Newark Partnership and the Delaware 87ers Youth Outreach Program.  Teams are limited to a 5-player maximum roster.  All players must be 18 years of age or older.  Interested participants can register online at www.sevens.com/3on3.  For more information on registration, please call 302-351-5378.

An 87ers Fan Fest will also take place at the 3 on 3 Tournament from 4pm to 8pm and will include a free moon bounce, face painting, and a live DJ from 99.5 WJBR.
