Shooter found dead at the scene from apparent self inflicted gunshot wound

New Castle County Police are continuing the investigation into a shooting at Foxwood Apartments south of New Linden Hill Road in the Pike Creek area.

On Tuesday, June 10, at approximately 5:53 p.m., police responded to the unit block of Harlech Hall, Foxwood Apartments, for a burglary in progress.  Prior to their arrival, officers learned witnesses had called 9-1-1 to report the incident as a shooting.

A preliminary investigation revealed three people were found with gunshot wounds to the upper body.  Two people have been transported to the Christiana Hospital, where they are listed in stable condition.

The third person, later identified at Jason Brunson, a 41-year-old male from the unit block of Harlech Hall, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brunson was also later identified as the shooter in Tuesday’s incident.

Detectives have located several pieces of evidence to suggest that Brunson, a neighbor of the victims, shot the 40-year-old female victim and her 19-year-old son after forcibly entering their apartment.

Brunson died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The New Castle County Police are not currently searching for additional suspects.  The two victims are currently listed in stable condition at the Christiana Hospital.

Investigators are currently conducting interviews to gather more information in reference to this incident.  Attempts are being made to determine a motive for the shooting and more information will be released when it becomes available.
