  • New Castle County Police have arrested Michael Wharton, a 50 year old male who resides in the 100 block of Greenbank Road, for falsely reporting a crime to the police.
On Saturday, March 8, County officers responded to the 100 block of Greenbank Road and made contact with Michael Wharton who reported several subjects were walking on his property and he was in fear for his safety. The investigation revealed this was a false statement. The officers learned Wharton has had ongoing issues with subjects picketing in front of his business, the Amish Mill, for the past year. County officers have responded to Wharton’s residence on multiple occasions during the month of March for reports of subjects trespassing on his property which were unfounded.
On March 12, Wharton was arrested on two counts of falsely reporting an incident to police. Wharton was arraigned and issued $1,000.00 unsecured bail, and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution for violating his probation.
