Daniel Osaba, 23, of New Castle, charged with two counts of attempted robbery, second degree
A New Castle man was arrested yesterday after Troopers linked him to a robbery of the Valero, 891 South DuPont Highway, that occurred Saturday evening.
The incident occurred at 9:50 p.m. when Daniel Osaba, 23, of New Castle, entered the gas station and asked a cashier for free gasoline. After the cashier refused, Osaba approached a second cashier, a 54-year-old male, and demanded money and cigarettes while making the shape of a gun with his hand. After the cashier refused to turn over money and merchandise, Osaba fled in a vehicle.
Responding Troopers were able to identify Osaba as the attempted robber and obtained a warrant for his arrest. He was apprehended at his residence Sunday morning after being found hiding in the basement.
Osaba was transported to Troop 2 where he was charged with two counts of attempted robbery second degree. He was released after posting $1,000 secured bail.
