  • It wasn’t easy, but Salesianum captured its ninth consecutive boys swimming state championship, nipping Charter School of Wilmington by a mere nine points Saturday afternoon at the University of Delaware’s aquatic center.
    It wasn’t until the 500-yard freestyle, in which Salesianum had three top-five finishers, that they were able to wrestle the lead from Charter once and for all.
    The rest of the top 10, in order, included: Delaware Military Academy, Newark, Archmere, Concord, St. Mark’s, St. Andrew’s, Cape Henlopen and Mt. Pleasant.
    Individual event winners were:
    200-yard medley relay: Charter School of Wilmington (Teague, Sweeney, Wang, Zlupko)
    200-yard freestyle: Ben Creekmore (Archmere)
    200-yard individual medley: Arthur Wang (Charter School of Wilmington)
    50-yard freestyle: Tyler Dougherty (Salesianum)
    1-meter diving: Kerry Lucas (McKean)
    100-yard butterfly: David Crossland (Tatnall)
    100-yard freestyle: Henry Rogatz (Charter School of Wilmington)
    500-yard freestyle: Robbie Dickson (Salesianum)
    200-yard freestyle relay: Charter School of Wilmington (Wang, Faull, Dias, Rogatz)
    100-yard backstroke: David Crossland (Tatnall) (State Record)
    100-yard breaststroke: Kyle Weston (Delaware Military Academy)
    400-yard freestyle relay: Charter School of Wilmington (Faull, Sweeney, Dias, Rogatz)
