Less than a week after Simon Cowell announced his return to the U.K. version of The X Factor, Nicole Scherzinger has reportedly quit, according to The U.K. newspaper The Sun.
The former Pussycat Doll is reportedly leaving to focus on a new album. Scherzinger's exit may pave the way for the return of Cheryl Cole, who quit the show when she was hired for the inaugural season of The X Factor's U.S. version in 2011. Ironically, Cole was quickly replaced on the American show by Scherzinger, who left after the first season. It also remains to be seen whether Louis Walsh, who has served as a judge on The X Factor U.K. since its inception, will return.
Fox canceled the U.S. edition of The X Factor last week after Cowell announced his plans to return to the U.K. version.
