  • New Castle Teens Arrested for Robbery

  • Three teens - a 17-year-old male, a 16-year-old male, and a 15-year-old male - charged after investigation

  • New Castle County Police have arrested a 17-year-old male from the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, a 16-year-old male from the unit block of Aquilla Avenue (Overview Gardens) and a 15-year-old male from the until block of South Lunenburg Drive (Jefferson Farms), all from New Castle. The teens have been charged with robbery related offenses after an investigation into a string of robberies in New Castle County.
    On Jan. 19, at approximately 7:45 p.m., New Castle County Police responded to the residence of a 13-year-old male victim for the report of a robbery. Police learned the victim was walking in the area of the unit block of Courtland Drive in the community of Buckley with a friend when they were approached by three black males in a dark colored vehicle. The victim reported one of the suspects pointed a weapon at him and demanded property. The victim's cellphone was taken at which time the suspects then fled in the vehicle. There were no reported injuries.
    Then on Jan. 24, at approximately 3:27 p.m., New Castle County Police were called to the home of a 16-year-old victim who reported he had been robbed in the area of East Roosevelt Avenue and Finney Road at gunpoint by two unknown teen males. The teen's cellphone was taken, and there were no reported injuries. The victim provided officers with a possible "nickname" of one of the suspects.
    Detectives working off the information provided during the later robbery were able to execute a search warrant and obtain additional information which led to the arrest of all three teens. The 17-year-old was linked to the robbery in Bear and New Castle.
    The 17-year-old teen was charged with two counts of robbery in the first degree, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned and released on $65,000 unsecured and issued a no contact order.
    The 16-year-old teen was charged with robbery in the first degree, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of posting $65,000 cash and issued a no contact order.
    The 15-year-old teen was charged with robbery in the first degree, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of posting $65,000 cash and issued a no contact order.
