  • New Castle County Police have arrested Maura Mirarchi, a 41-year-old female from the 300 block of Stonehurst Drive in Newport. She has been charged with a theft related offense after police learned she stole approximately $10,000 worth of jewelry from her employer.
On Sunday, Feb. 9, at approximately 5:10 p.m., New Castle County Police Officer Christopher Potter, a Property Crime Specialist, responded to the 500 block of W. Clearview Avenue in Wilmington for the report of a theft. The officer learned from the female victim that she had hired Mirarchi to clean her residence in September 2013. The victim learned Mirarchi had been stealing jewelry from others after receiving a telephone call from concerned relatives.
The victim observed jewelry missing from her jewelry box and called the police to report the incident. Officer Potter was able to locate photographs and documentation of the victim's jewelry and return some of the pieces to the victim.
Mirarchi was taken into custody without incident at her residence and charged with theft over $1,500. She was arraigned and released on $2,500 unsecured bond and issued a no contact order.
