  • Arrest made in shooting investigation in the community of Buckley

  • Jabbar Shy, 35 of Harper's Place, charged with attempted murder, others

  • On Jan. 24, at approximately 7:25 p.m., New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Harper’s Place in the community of Buckley, in Bear, for the report of a male victim with a gunshot wound. Police later learned two men were shot and both were transported to Christiana Medical Center.
    As a result of the investigation, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jabbar Shy, a 35-year-old male from the unit block of Harper’s Place.
    On Monday, Feb. 10, members of the New Castle County U.S. Marshal’s Task Force located and arrested Jabbar Shy in the 300 block of W. 20th Street, in the city of Wilmington.
    He was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters where he was charged with: Attempted murder in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession, purchase, own or control of a firearm by a person convicted of a felony, four counts of possession, purchase, own or control of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, and possession of marijuana.
    Shy was arraigned and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $275,000 cash bail and issued a no contact order.
