Delaware State Police are investigating the Saturday evening robbery of the Rite Aid in the Polly Drummond Hill shopping center just south of the Pike Creek area.
At about 6:30 p.m., police said a man entered the store and approached the cash register with an item to purchase. As the 32-year-old female employee began ringing up the item, the man reached over the counter and grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.
The employee attempted to stop the suspect by grabbing the money, but was unsuccessful. The suspect fled the store in an unknown direction with the cash.
The employee was not injured during this incident.
The male suspect is described as 6' to 6'1" tall, wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt with a black jacket and black pants. No weapon was displayed. No video surveillance is available for release to the public, police said.
