Andrew Hiltner, 26, charged with multiple burglary-related crimes
New Castle County Police have arrested Andrew Hiltner, a 26-year-old male from the 1100 block of Highgate Road, Wilmington. Hiltner has been charged with burglary and theft related offenses after he was linked to burglaries in the communities of Arundel and Sherwood Park II.
On Wednesday, Feb. 5, at approximately 9 a.m., New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Duvall Court, in the community of Arundel, for a reported burglary. Officers learned the suspect entered the residence by damaging a rear window. The suspect then removed jewelry, a video gaming system and games from the residence.
On Friday, Feb. 7, at approximately 4:40 p.m., County Officers responded to the 2700 block of Pecksniff Road for another burglary. The suspect entered the rear of the residence damaging a rear door. There were no reports of items taken from the home.
County Detectives were able to link Hiltner to both burglaries and later executed a search warrant at his residence. Detectives located items belonging to the victim of Duvall Court and took Hiltner into custody without incident.
Hiltner was charged with two counts of criminal mischief under $1,000, attempted burglary in the second degree, theft $1,500 or greater, burglary in the second degree, selling stolen property.
He was arraigned and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $23,000 secured bond. Hiltner was also issued a no contact order.
