A 46-year-old Dover woman who worked at Middletown’s Amazon Fulfillment Center was found dead in the facility’s parking lot early Monday morning.
An investigation into what caused the woman’s death is ongoing, but foul play is not suspected at this time, said Middletown Police Chief Henry Tobin III.
“It appears as if she might have been in the process of clearing snow off of her car when she sustained some kind of medical issue,” he said.
The woman, whose name has not been released, is believed to have left work at the year-old distribution center at 560 Merrimac Ave. at about 6 p.m.
Her body was not discovered until about 2:50 a.m., after members of her family had begun looking for her, Tobin said.
“I’m not sure if she was discovered by other employees or her family, but she was deceased when the paramedics arrived,” he said.
A spokesperson for Amazon was not immediately available for comment.
Tobin said the woman’s body was handed over to the state medical examiner’s office, which will determine an official cause of death.
