  • TAPS patrol leads to arrest of robbery suspect

  • Shaiquen Brown, 18, of S. Pennewell Drive, Wilmington, arrested while driving a stolen vehicle

  • During the early morning hours of Sunday, Jan. 26, at 12 a.m., officers of the Mobile Enforcement Team were conducting T.A.P.S (Targeted Analytical Policing System) directed proactive patrols in the targeted community of Edgemoor Gardens when they observed a vehicle occupied by Brown and a 17 year- old juvenile. A vehicle stop was initiated when the driver, Brown, fled on foot. He was then apprehended by officers. Officers did find marijuana and a switchblade in Brown's possession. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident.
    Investigators learned Brown was responsible for the robbery that occurred on Friday, Jan. 17, in the area of Lore Avenue and Philadelphia Pike in which the victim's debit card was used at a local convenient store.
    Brown was charged with resisting arrest, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana, unlawful dealing with a switchblade, unlawful use of a credit card under $1,500, conspiracy in the second degree, assault second degree, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, driving without a license. He was arraigned and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Facility in lieu of posting a combination of $28,000 secured and cash bail. Brown was also issued a no contact order.
