Margery Broderdorp, 63, pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital from multiple traumatic injuries suffered in the crash
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a two vehicle crash that has left a 63 year old woman dead on Montchanin Road early Saturday evening. Preliminary investigation indicates that the incident occurred on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at approximately 5:45 p.m. as a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, operated by Margery Broderdorp-63 of Wilmington, DE, was traveling northbound on Montchanin Road (SR100) and for unknown reasons lost control of the vehicle. The Chrysler rotated counterclockwise and crossed the double yellow center line of the roadway, into the path of a southbound Ford F-150 pickup truck being operated by Kevin P. Derbyshire-41 of Wilmington, DE. The front of the Ford struck the passenger side of the Chrysler. After the impact, the Chrysler traveled off of the west side of the roadway and came to rest in a snow covered ditch. Margery Broderdorp, who was properly restrained in the vehicle, was transported by ambulance to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead from multiple traumatic injuries suffered in the crash. Kevin P. Derbyshire, who was properly restrained in the vehicle, was transported by ambulance to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where he was treated and released with minor injuries. Three passengers in the Ford, a 44 year old female, 1 year old male, and a 3 year old male were all properly restrained and were not injured. Montchanin Road in the area of the crash was closed for approximately 3 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident.
