The Caesar Rodney Riders rode a hot start to a 38-24 victory over Salesianum on the mat Saturday. CR won seven of the first eight bouts Saturday to take an early advantage, one that a late Salesianum rally couldn’t overtake.

CR’s Zack Parker led things off with a 16-1 win over Montgomery of Salesianum which was matched by teammate Nick Klink in the very next bout to give CR a lead early.

Senior Jason Stevens gave Salesianum their first points with a slim 5-3 decision over John DeVary, however Micah Hight took all the wind out of Salesinaum’s sails pinning freshmen Joe Poma in 28 seconds for the first of five straight Rider victories by Brandon Scott, Tom Gallucci, Daniel Ortiz, and Tony Scarfo.

After consecutive victories by Dane Diksa and Louis Fedele for Salesianum, Michael Clavier gave CR some breathing room after a 9-5 decision over Joe Miller.

Salesianum won the final three bouts but it wasn’t enough to catch the Riders who held on for the victory.

High, Ortiz, and Scarfo all had pin-falls for the Riders, while Diksa tallied the only pin-fall for Salesianum Saturday.
