Five unidentified subjects attempted to enter the store at closing on Tuesday night.

Troopers are investigating the attempted armed robbery of the Helzberg Diamonds located in the Concord Square Shopping Center, which occurred last evening.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at approximately 8:30 p.m. as the 71 year old female sales associate was inside of the Helzberg Diamonds store preparing to lock the front glass entrance doors, closing the business for the evening.

As she was locking the doors, two suspects wearing dark clothing with ski masks covering their faces to disguise their identities approached the front doors of the business from the parking lot. They were joined by three additional suspects also wearing dark clothing and ski masks.

One of the suspects forcibly pulled on the front doors in order to gain entry into the business, but the victim was able to secure and lock the doors preventing the suspects from getting inside. One of the suspects produced and displayed an unknown type handgun at the victim.

The victim fled to the rear of the store where she contacted State Police. The suspects were unsuccessful in their attempted entry and fled on foot through the parking lot towards Concord Pike.
