    Another suspected suicide bombing struck the southern Russian city of Volgograd on Monday, killing at least 14 people. A blast at Volgograd’s main train station killed 17 people and wounded at least 35. Security measures are being evaluated as Russia prepares to host the Winter Olympics in less than six weeks.

The medical situation here in this case is that Jahi McMath died several weeks ago." — Children’s Hospital Oakland Sam Singer on Monday to reporters regarding Jahi, a 13-year-old who remained on a ventilator at the same hospital where doctors declared the girl brain dead after tonsil surgery. Last week, a judge ruled that the hospital could disconnect life support Monday evening.

    An Environment Ministry camera in El Salvador caught dramatic pictures of the Chaparrastique volcano shooting gas and ash into the air on Sunday. Nearby residents were evacuated.
